Ex-Officio Board Member
Lori
Terrizzi was appointed Executive Director of Cities of
Refuge North America on July 1st, 2007, and remains with
the organization as an ex-officio member of the Board of
Directors. She
obtained an MFA in film from Columbia University's School
of the
Arts,
where she was awarded a fellowship for study, and has
received awards for work in independent film and commercial
television.
A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Rutgers College, where she
majored in art history and received a scholarship for
the study of art and music, her pivotal experiences include
working at The Art Commission of the City of New York,
The Guggenheim Museum, and a sculpture apprenticeship
in
Italy, where she has periodically lived and studied over
the years. The granddaughter of Armenian and Italian
immigrants who imparted a love and tradition of storytelling,
she
was ultimately led into filmmaking by the desire to tell
a story.
She
is founder, president and executive director of ReInventions,
a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting film
as an art form, giving volume to cinematic voices that
often go unheard, and presenting stories of individual
and collective transformations worldwide.
Born
and raised in Amherst, Massachusetts, she now lives
in New York City.
